Paddington Now and Then Festival

WALK, SHOP, EAT & EXPLORE!

Saturday August 5th will see Given and Latrobe Terraces celebrating the past and the present with the Paddington Now & Then Festival, a free outdoor event encouraging visitors to Walk, Shop, Eat & Explore this well-loved character precinct.

Across the day people can experience the Terraces’ eclectic mix of boutique fashion and lifestyle, destination dining, history, architecture, and special festival street activities.  The historic, character-lined main streets will be decorated with vibrant orange bows and will be full of surprises both new and old with over 50 Terrace traders to discover.  500 lucky Terrace “explorers” who pre-register for the event will receive a free Paddington Terraces tote bag filled with local offers and giveaways and an exclusive Festival card that will unlock special discounts and activities at participating businesses on the day.

The Festival is also partnering with Brisbane Open House to highlight the architecture and built history of one of Brisbane’s oldest suburbs with a series of tours and talks.  Visitors can book in to be guided by experts, pick up a map for a self-guided experience or drop in for a speaker session at the Briswest Centre on Latrobe Terrace.  Historical Paddington properties, such as Lucerne House and the Ithaca Presbyterian Church, will be running their own guided tours across the day and an omnibus will be doing a loop of the precinct throughout the day taking art lovers to the local galleries.

To help visitors experience Paddington’s unique streetscape, the festival has created the Terrace Walk & Win, a 1.8km footpath trail from Suncorp Stadium to Trammies Corner at Upper Latrobe and Prince St.  Walkers can take the leisurely stroll in either direction and those who complete the walk, receive an entry to win the ultimate Paddington experience, valued at over $5000.  The prize includes tickets to Pink at Suncorp Stadium, a stunning piece from Artisan Bespoke Jewellers, a gift basket from Presents of Mind, vouchers from Brow Sculpt, Thousand Island Dressing gifts, FITA-U Personal Training, Sassafras Cafe meal vouchers, accommodation at Lucerne House, chocolates from Mayfield, artisan liqueur from Louis B, a private wine tasting at Embassy Cellars and a styling session from Klemenza interiors.

A great prize from Artisan Bespoke Jewellers is also up for grabs for those who successfully complete The Terrace Scavenger Hunt, a thrilling clue-based digital challenge for all the family that unlocks fun facts and information along the Terraces.  Across the day, visitors can experience kids’ art and storytelling, face-painting and magic shows, working urban artists, live music and much more.

The day-long Festival kicks off at 9am and public transport is easily available to Milton Station or Roma St.  A free shuttle bus will operate all day with several stops between Trammies Corner and Suncorp Stadium.

A full Festival Program, information and pre-registration for the Shopping totes, tours and other offers and activities can be found at www.paddingtonfestival.com.au.

The festival is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council, local business group Paddington Terraces 4064 and community group Paddington Then & Now.

Thank you to our major sponsors: Hope & Anchor, Artisans Bespoke Jewellers, FITA-U Performance Centre, Paddington Central and Suncorp Stadium. Over 50 retailers and businesses have supported this event with sponsorship, in-kind support, volunteer work and prizes!
